8/09/2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Hey all you wonderful peops. It is time to make a long, well thought out decision official. Carothers' Olive Oil is closed. Sigh and some tears, for sure.

I totally did my best taking over this company to keep this wonderful oil on the market. It is a sad day to finally realize I need to let it go, the $$$ and the sales are just not there and I can't do this anymore.

Remembering two things:
1. The one constant thing in life is change.
2. One door closes, another one opens.

Soon, I too shall be looking for some comparable olive oil and when I do find some, I shall blog about it and share. Honestly, what is in the grocery store is mostly not good stuff. I don't know if people just don't research this, do not believe this or just do not care! It is what it is.

Blessings and joy everyone.  Marie  K

7-05-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

It has been a while since my last blog, sorry. Very busy with summer markets and whatever else goes on here in the office. If I am REALLY lucky I will even take a day off now and again...again...not so much!  This is what the 4th of July was for us though. Brian, hubby, and I both had the WHOLE day off and it was magic! It was so good to hang out together all day long!

The day before, the 3rd, at the Lapeer Farmer's Market  were pleased and surprised (not the market master of course!) by Executive Chef, Michael Romine's presence. He came and bought local produce and OLIVE OIL and prepared a few different dishes and taught us how to do a few things inexpensively and healthy eating.  PICTURES:

Market chef #5

It was a very fun day, the vendors at this market are my favorite. The customers, people of Lapeer are kind people and a pleasure to serve!

Needless to say, I did not go home hungry! Michaels couscous ROCKS!!!

Blessings and my best, always!  Marie  K

RECIPE!

Bacon Ranch Foil Packet Potatoes

3 sheets of heavy-duty foil
10-12 baby red potatoes, thinly sliced
6 slices of cooked and crumbled bacon
1 packet ranch dressing mix
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons butter
Sour cream for serving, if desired

1. Spray each sheet of foil with cooking spray. Top each piece with equal portions of potatoes, bacon, and ranch dressing mix. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to each serving. Wrap securely.

2. Grill for 20 to 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve in foil, topped with sour cream if desired.

Improvements!  Always be sure to line your aluminum foil with parchment paper to protect your health, as using aluminum in any kind of cooking is so very dangerous for your health (google it!).
Then drizzle Carothers' Olive Oil on your parchment paper (instead of cooking spray, EW!). Then ENJOY! I so so so love bacon and I love potatoes!

A good friend of mine filled me in how how she gives her little dog a few drops of Carothers' Olive Oil each day, twice daily on her dry food. She said Gracie's coat is lovely and she no longer has dry, flaky, itchy skin! Also, if she forgets to put some on, Gracie will wait and look up at Becky letting her know she forgot something! This is very cool stuff. Had to share.

It is the same for our skin. Whether we eat the olive oil, and who would not? Or apply it upon oneself. Carothers' Olive Oil is just the purest, most delicious olive oil you are going to find. Why hesitate OR wait?

I used to tell people, just use up what you have, keep it in the cupboard (dark spot) and when you are out, call me or find me at a market. Now I just tell people, "Why wait to put the best olive oil's nutrition into your body?" Call me, place an order and let me know you saw this blog and I will offer you 10% off your purchase! Call now!

6-10-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Back from the UP wonderland. What a beautiful land (!!!) and a whole different world, really. I am rather exhilarated because I did this whole trip by myself - man, what a drive! Both beautiful and loooong. Of course, the ride there was less tiring because of the weekend in front of me to play and a Daughter to see that I do not get to see anywhere near enough!

She, Daughter, Music Directed Spam A Lot, shown at The Vista Theatre in Negaunee, MI. It was a googoodgood time and I had so much fun! The Theatre is quite old, I think it was built in 1927 (ish) and the energy in this Theatre is a good energy. I love old towns, old buildings, history. It is where we came from!

We went through the Farmers Market in Marquette on Saturday morning and I had the chance to meet up with the people who run Farmer Q's. They buy and sell Carothers' Olive Oil

The weather was fine and Lake Superior was ever inviting and wonderfully powerful. Sigh. Yes, i had a great time. Now, back to the business of selling THE BEST, real olive oil to you! Carothers' olive Oil!

Blessings and joy.  Marie  K

6-6-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

It has been a busy week and embracing all the good things, crazy things in life! May as well, huh??!!  I do have the opportunity to go up to Marquette and visit my wonderful Daughter and this is so happy! Hubby is staying behind and taking care of things-my biggest concern is my MYA (kitty).

So this will be quite the trip and quite the experience for me, alone. Then when I get there I get true Mom and Daughter time. It has been a long time. Also get to meet a few people and stores up there that carry Carothers' Olive Oil-this will be fun also. And of course visit their Farmer's Market. It is sad that Marquette is so far away as I would so most definitely be there on Market Day if it was only an hour or so trip!

So everyone keep grilling, relaxing, listening to good music and enjoying good food-especially with good olive oil! Grease up the skin and lay in the sun!!!

Enjoy and blessings!  Marie  K

6-3-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Time sure does get away from a person, right?! Still selling the best olive oil, still bottling sampling and testing! I did get 2 samples, one from Morocco and 1 from turkey! Turkish oil i had never had before. Both were extra virgin and quality oil. I must say though, after much playing around with them and comparing to Spanish, Carothers'...once again, I am staying with the spanish. I just like it better. Mine, Carothers' tasted the best!

What is beginning to concern me is what I have heard about spanish oil going up so much. My last barrel order went up some and I was told it will go up again next order. A bad year, is what I was told. :(( Well, it is almost time to order more barrels and I have not gotten a price yet so I thought I may as well do some comparing, tasting and testing.

This is always kind of scary too because people know Carothers' Olive Oil. People trust Carothers' olive Oil. Do i really want to take this chance? The answer to this is "NO."

We will just have to see where pricing goes with this shipment I will place in a few weeks. If you are in need of olive oil, now is a great time to get more Carothers' or try Carothers' as I do not know for sure where the pricing is going to go!!!

Besides: there is never a time like the present time!

Blessings and love,  Marie  K

The use of olive oil on both your hair and your skin is a gift to your hair and your skin! It is also very important that you use a quality olive oil, a REAL/PURE olive oil. Carothers' Olive Oil is all of these things, the best olive oil you can use and eat.

Another good place and ideas:

Olive Oil, good olive oil is just a gift! A great one to give (sure, go ahead, give to oneself! You deserve the best!) and to receive.

Blessings and good day to you!  Marie  K

5-27-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Carothers' Olive Oil wishes all a Happy Memorial Day, blessings to all of our Veterans; with us and gone and grateful for their service so we can be free. Today is a gorgeous day to be in thanks together and celebrate. I hope you all have had a good weekend and a great day today.

It is rather nice to not be heading into the office today, I thought about doing so as there is always something to do and some packages to ship but UPS is off today too so I think I will just CHILL, relax, actually get a few hours with Hubby (!!!) who has a new schedule; I go to work and he goes to bed...I come home and he goes to work-UGH! We do do what we must, don't we?! I think going out to breakfast together is a really good plan, yes!

I want to share a recipe/thought for cooking. Brian found a huge Moral mushroom in our flower garden the other day! I soaked it is salt water (bugs be gone!) and sliced it up. I sauteed this mushroom up with diced onions and thinly sliced potatoes in Carothers Olive Oil over medium heat. It only took about 10 minutes sauteing and it was delicious and memorable! You really do most definitely want to do the kind of thing in Carothers' Olive Oil as the flavor of the oil is what makes this so special. Carothers' Olive Oil is the best olive oil. Flavor and healthy!

Blessings and FUN!   Marie  K

Feeling quite perky today, optimistic. Happy stuff! We have so many, many blessings in our daily life, know this, right?! If you do not...look harder because no more than waking up, opening our eyes is a blessing. Another chance "to get it right" if you happen to be a negative person. Another day to 'start again'!

Tomorrow, Carothers' Olive Oil will be at The Canterbury Farmer's Market in Lake Orion, MI.
http://canterburyvillage.com/map-of-village.aspx

The market is open from 10 am - 3 pm. This a good market and a really fun place to hang out! I hope you make it out to play/shop/eat and relax.

Out soon to get a cup of coffee and begin to pack up the van for tomorrows play!

Blessings and great joy!  Marie  K

5-23-2012   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Hi! A good day, a very good day! I am just here, at work, doing what I always do and I am having a good day. :)) All days are good really, just some are so much better than others! LOL

Yesterday, at the Lapeer Market, two good friends of mine and their newborn son (who I am totally Gramma to!) joined me all day. It was beautiful. One forgets after so many years just how teeny tiny a 2 1/2 week old is! Anyway, he is wonderfulwonderfulwonderful and his Mom and Dad has done a very good job so far. No worries for his future!

We did not sell a lot of olive oil yesterday but we talked to many people and many people tasted Carothers Olive Oil, loved it and said, "I'll be back!"

People! You have NO idea what an "I"ll be back" does to a vendor! LOL Actually, we do not take you seriously anymore and are pleasantly surprised at those who DO come back! Think about it...markets are fun to do and this is what we do...but we are out there all day long working to sell our product (whatever it may be). Much prep' work has gone before this day even to be the best we can be! It is an art. So...next time...just think before you say "I'll be back"...just sayin!  ;)) I never understood this until I became a vendor myself...selling the best olive oil in the world! My firm belief.
I am looking forward to do The Canterbury Village Market again this weekend. I have only been there once so far. It is a totally fun place to hang out. Market. Shop. Lunch it up. Bar it up. so many possibilities!

Blessings and good things coming at you all of the time!  Marie  K

A post I am posting again because it is such a good one and a reminder of all of the 'hokeypokie" going on with olive oil in this country!

http://www.peak-health-now.com/olive-oil-scams.html

Good information and reasons to see that Carothers' is simply the best olive oil and is delicious!

How about a great recipe using Carothers' Olive Oil? Good idea!

Original recipe makes 4 servingsChange Servings

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly. Dredge shrimp in flour mixture.
  2. In a large skillet, saute dredged shrimp in olive oil for 5 minutes over high heat. Toss shrimp often to prevent burning. Transfer shrimp with a slotted spoon to a serving dish, leaving the oil in the pan.
  3. In the same pan, saute the garlic, shallot, parsley and oregano over medium heat for 3 minutes; stirring constantly. Spoon the mixture over the shrimp. Return pan to the heat. Preheat your broiler for medium heat.
  4. Pour the wine and brandy into the skillet and ignite with a match or lighter. When the flames die down, stir to loosen any browned bits on the bottom of the skillet; pour over shrimp.
  5. Place the serving dish of shrimp in a preheated broiler for about 2 minutes.

As you can see this is not my recipe. It is a tried and true one and is delicious!  Enjoy!!

Blessings and joy,  Marie  K
