5-31-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

The use of olive oil on both your hair and your skin is a gift to your hair and your skin! It is also very important that you use a quality olive oil, a REAL/PURE olive oil. Carothers' Olive Oil is all of these things, the best olive oil you can use and eat.

Another good place and ideas:

Olive Oil, good olive oil is just a gift! A great one to give (sure, go ahead, give to oneself! You deserve the best!) and to receive.

Blessings and good day to you!  Marie  K

5-27-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Carothers' Olive Oil wishes all a Happy Memorial Day, blessings to all of our Veterans; with us and gone and grateful for their service so we can be free. Today is a gorgeous day to be in thanks together and celebrate. I hope you all have had a good weekend and a great day today.

It is rather nice to not be heading into the office today, I thought about doing so as there is always something to do and some packages to ship but UPS is off today too so I think I will just CHILL, relax, actually get a few hours with Hubby (!!!) who has a new schedule; I go to work and he goes to bed...I come home and he goes to work-UGH! We do do what we must, don't we?! I think going out to breakfast together is a really good plan, yes!

I want to share a recipe/thought for cooking. Brian found a huge Moral mushroom in our flower garden the other day! I soaked it is salt water (bugs be gone!) and sliced it up. I sauteed this mushroom up with diced onions and thinly sliced potatoes in Carothers Olive Oil over medium heat. It only took about 10 minutes sauteing and it was delicious and memorable! You really do most definitely want to do the kind of thing in Carothers' Olive Oil as the flavor of the oil is what makes this so special. Carothers' Olive Oil is the best olive oil. Flavor and healthy!

Blessings and FUN!   Marie  K

Feeling quite perky today, optimistic. Happy stuff! We have so many, many blessings in our daily life, know this, right?! If you do not...look harder because no more than waking up, opening our eyes is a blessing. Another chance "to get it right" if you happen to be a negative person. Another day to 'start again'!

Tomorrow, Carothers' Olive Oil will be at The Canterbury Farmer's Market in Lake Orion, MI.

Out soon to get a cup of coffee and begin to pack up the van for tomorrows play!

Blessings and great joy!  Marie  K

5-23-2012   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Hi! A good day, a very good day! I am just here, at work, doing what I always do and I am having a good day. :)) All days are good really, just some are so much better than others! LOL

Yesterday, at the Lapeer Market, two good friends of mine and their newborn son (who I am totally Gramma to!) joined me all day. It was beautiful. One forgets after so many years just how teeny tiny a 2 1/2 week old is! Anyway, he is wonderfulwonderfulwonderful and his Mom and Dad has done a very good job so far. No worries for his future!

We did not sell a lot of olive oil yesterday but we talked to many people and many people tasted Carothers Olive Oil, loved it and said, "I'll be back!"

People! You have NO idea what an "I"ll be back" does to a vendor! LOL Actually, we do not take you seriously anymore and are pleasantly surprised at those who DO come back! Think about it...markets are fun to do and this is what we do...but we are out there all day long working to sell our product (whatever it may be). Much prep' work has gone before this day even to be the best we can be! It is an art. So...next time...just think before you say "I'll be back"...just sayin!  ;)) I never understood this until I became a vendor myself...selling the best olive oil in the world! My firm belief.
I am looking forward to do The Canterbury Village Market again this weekend. I have only been there once so far. It is a totally fun place to hang out. Market. Shop. Lunch it up. Bar it up. so many possibilities!

Blessings and good things coming at you all of the time!  Marie  K

A post I am posting again because it is such a good one and a reminder of all of the 'hokeypokie" going on with olive oil in this country!

Original recipe makes 4 servingsChange Servings

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly. Dredge shrimp in flour mixture.
  2. In a large skillet, saute dredged shrimp in olive oil for 5 minutes over high heat. Toss shrimp often to prevent burning. Transfer shrimp with a slotted spoon to a serving dish, leaving the oil in the pan.
  3. In the same pan, saute the garlic, shallot, parsley and oregano over medium heat for 3 minutes; stirring constantly. Spoon the mixture over the shrimp. Return pan to the heat. Preheat your broiler for medium heat.
  4. Pour the wine and brandy into the skillet and ignite with a match or lighter. When the flames die down, stir to loosen any browned bits on the bottom of the skillet; pour over shrimp.
  5. Place the serving dish of shrimp in a preheated broiler for about 2 minutes.

As you can see this is not my recipe. It is a tried and true one and is delicious!  Enjoy!!

5-17-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

Good morning! Another beautiful day we are given! Happy sigh. The Farmer's Market in Lapeer a couple of days ago was good, I had a conversation with a woman I sold oil to, I do this so easily, and she was telling me about magnesium oil. http://wellnessmama.com/5804/how-to-make-your-own-magnesium-oil/ Interesting. I know that probably most of us are magnesium deficient and in taking tablets we more than not are not utilizing them/digesting them well in our bodies. But t have a spray...I am going to try this!

I love it; my excellent olive oil, the amazing essential oils I use everyday-Protandim (fairly new product that I am feeling really strong on) and now let's give magnesium oil a try. Ha! I am going to live forever! Oh, yes, and the green smoothies too. A huge difference in my life they have made, thank you Valerie!

Blessings and a great day to you. Remember to keep you best olive oil stocked so you have it for grilling, for your spaghetti sauce (I have a really good recipe for the spaghetti sauce that I make and will send a copy to you!), for Pesto (another really good recipe I have and will send), for just about evrything including protecting your skin from sun damage! 5-16-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

A beautiful day to cook outside on the grill tonight! One of my favorites is to get fresh fish form the Flint Farmer's Market (this guy is in the outside stalls all the way at the end). Then at home I line tin foil with parchment paper (foil is so toxic if you do not!) and layer onions then 4 pads of butter, s&p, dill, mushrooms, diced red peppers, drizzle Carothers Olive Oil then place fish on top adding salt and pepper and more dill and drizzle again with Carothers' Olive Oil! Wrap up and cook on grill for 9 minutes each side-medium heat.

Be careful when you open these, they are HOT and STEAMY! Actually, I let them rest for a few minutes before I open them up. Then dive in and enjoy! Since you are at the Flint Market buying fish, stop at McCarrons and pick up your olive oil! She carries Carothers' Olive Oil!

The Flint Farmer's Market is open on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays so TODAY is the day and it promises to be a perfect evening for hanging on the deck, grilling, drinking some good red wine - good vendor there for wine also! So there you go, one stop for all your grilling, evening enjoying needs!

Blessings and have a good day/evening!  Marie  K

5-14-2013   Best Olive Oil - Blog

I am packing up/loading up readying for the Lapeer Farmer's Market tomorrow and I was putting some recipes together to hand out with sales and I came across my Pasta Recipe and my Spaghetti Sauce Recipe, both are kind of a little bit wonderful! SHARING:

Recipes and other ideas for enjoying Carothers' Olive Oil.
(810)715-9748

Pasta Salad                                                 vinaigrette:
2 c. cooked pasta                                        1/4 c. cider vinegar
10 cherry tomatoes                                     1 T. lemon juice
1 small red onion, diced                               2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 c. olives (your preference)                     2 t. oregano
1/2 c. feta cheese                                         2 t. basil
                                                                      2/3 c. Carothers' Olive Oil
Mix vinaigrette together and pour over the pasta and other ingredients. Toss gently and let flavors "marry" in refrigerator for a couple of hours. Enjoy!

Marie's spaghetti sauce
8 tomatoes, remove skins and roughly chop (large pieces are fine~they will cook down).
1 entire bulb of garlic, crushed or chopped fine
3 T. tomato paste
1/2 c. fresh basil, chopped
1/2 t. fresh, cracked black pepper
1/4 t. dill
1/8 c. Carothers' Olive Oil
In heavy frying pan heat the olive oil and add the tomatoes, garlic black pepper and dill and cook over medium heat for about 25 minutes or until tomatoes have broken down using a spatula to "work" the mixture. Add basil, reduce heat to simmer and cover and simmer for another 15 minutes. Then add the tomato paste to the thickness, texture you desire. Usually 3 T. is perfect. This is so easy and so wonderful.

What is so nice is this time of year a cool Pasta Salad is so nice to have ready in one's refrigerator. AND in a couple of months you will have all kinds of wonderful fresh, REAL tomatoes (local) to make spaghetti sauce with. Last year I made enough so I could freeze some to have for a special treat in the winter...and ohmygoodness, it was! Laughing out loud~I think I am more in love with my spaghetti sauce than anyone else in my family!

Don't be shy with these recipes to add what you love in place of what i listed. These recipes are basic and interchangeable...pretty much!

Enjoy and remain blessed always!  Marie  K
